If it were mandated for the HPV vaccine to be given to girls, it would be the first vaccine given to prevent cervical cancer. This would also be the first time that a person could be immunized against a sexually transmitted disease, which is how the Human Papillomavirus is transmitted. The HPV vaccine has been recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) along with other professional originations in an effort to prevent the spread of the Human Papillomavirus.
